the problem with the "cats" pitch is that anime in general is obsessed with cats, not just furry anime. i feel like there's more examples outside of the "furry" genre that place cats in high regard than within. fruits basket is the only one i can think of, and i don't know if it would even qualify as a furry anime.

Aki got a point. Kiki's Delivering Service had a black cat like Sailor Moon and Trigun. Tank Police had a Catgirl twins or sisters that also appeared in early Ghost in the Shell manga (on some black market)

i think the i've seen the hill trope more times than the toast in mouth one. maybe the toast trope was very relevant in the early 2000s anime, but you don't see them anymore in modern anime. but the hill is pretty much always there.

School Festival. Whatever the school, there is a festival at some point. Doesn't matter if the school is teaching normal children or demons or mech pilots or chefs, there is a festival. Even JJK which has a school of about a dozen students, has a school festival.
